Everyone says that Ethan looks so innocent that they can't believe that he would ever misbehave. So I decided to let him show his wild side with some wash-out highlights.

Calgon Take Me Away
It has been one of those days. I have learned an important lesson today. Do not put uncooked spaghetti in the garbage disposal. After El Destructo spilled a bunch on the floor I scooped it up and threw it in the sink. It went down okay, but it clogged up the sink. It was a job no plunger could handle. I had to unscrew about three pieces of pipe to get all of it out. There were little bitty pieces of noodle welded together blocking the entire pipe. All this happened after Ethan colored all over the wall, spilled hamburger blood all over the stove and unwound a roll of paper towels. Then the coffee maker I got off of freecycle and which I was using to warm up Carter's bottle as he screamed started leaking out blackish water from the bottom all over the counter (which still had all the dirty dishes I had to take out of the clogged sink on it). Then the phone rang and the hamburger started to burn. When I finally got everything cleaned up and lunch made I realized that it was early release day and I was late picking Laurin up from school. I wish I had a margarita, ha ha.

Ethan's New Do
Before
After
It took me three days, but I finally got Ethan's hair trimmed. I started with the trimmers, but the sound made him run away and hide under a chair. Then he was terrified of the scissors too, so I had to have Paul hold his head while I quickly trimmed. He's never been scared to have his hair cut before, so I hope that it isn't something that will last.

How Do You Spend a Rainy Day?
Laina always comes up with the best outfits when I let her pick them out herself. Darryl and Georgia got here this afternoon on their way home to Missouri. The kids are looking forward to swimming at the pool with them. Laina has been wearing a swim suit underneath her clothes for three days in anticipation.

Cleaning The Garage
Yesterday after church we tackled the garage. I went into the attic and got out a bunch of clothes to give away, consign or have Laina wear. I seem to be able to purge a little at a time over the years, so by the time they go to college I probably won't have any clothes, toys, etc.. left. Ha, Ha. Ethan had a great time discovering new things to play with. He looks like some sort of futuristic soldier in this picture.

Today's Verse
We have been having fun around here the last few days with the gorgeous weather. Laurin left for Washington D.C. on Sunday and Paul, me, Laina, Ethan and Isabelle went to see Disney on Ice Monster's Inc. It was a fun day, but with the time change we were all pretty tired by the end of the day. Isabelle stayed all night and the girls enjoyed playing with each other. They got so into acting like dinosaurs I caught them putting grass in their mouths. It reminded me of the time a few years ago when I was washing the car. I saw that the fronts of their shirts were all wet and asked how they got that way. Isabelle said that they were getting a drink of water. Knowing that we had no cups outside I was startled to find that they had used empty flower pots as cups!

Today's Verse
I have been reading Tortured For Christ and it has really gotten me thinking. We Christians in America think that we have it so bad because people want to take down the ten commandments in public places and take In God We Trust off of our money. Meanwhile, Christians around the world are being tortured and murdered for spreading the gospel. I'm not saying that we should let our religious freedoms be taken away in America, I just think that we "western" Christians should be thankful for the freedoms we do have and remember those that don't have it as easy as we do.

The Sock Hop
We all had fun at Laurin's school sock hop. Laurin won a prize in the hula hoop contest, and both girls participated in the limbo contest. Ethan just loved running around and admiring the sound equipment. Notice the little girl in the middle of the video clip with the pink shirt, poodle skirt and piggy tails. It's Melissa all grown up!
