This Week's Verse

Laina added the colorful giraffe and fish at the bottom.

My Baby is 12

I can't believe that 12 years ago I welcomed my little girl into the world. I didn't really know the first thing about babies, and I was terrified. But I had the help and support of my family and we made it through. In many ways we have matured together, my Laurin and I. She has been my friend, my confidant, and my companion through all these years. I pray that there will be many more to come.

Pondering

I was sitting in the dentist's chair lightly under the influence of nitrous oxide, and I got to thinking. Why did God choose to let me live so blessed? Why am I not in a refugee camp in Africa waiting for a food distribution? Why do I think a hardship is having only one car to drive?

Is is because God knew that I was too weak to live in such conditions? Is it because if we traded places the less fortunate one would not find his way to God? Or is it because the refugee is in reality blessed too. Will he have more rewards in heaven? I could come up with no answers and my sympathy towards those who have nothing while I have so much almost made me cry right there.

I did not ask to be born in America or to be so rich in possessions and food. But I thank God that I am here and that I live where I live. But I don't want to forget about those who have nothing (and I'm not talking about someone who doesn't have enough money for a computer or gaming system, or brand name clothes). I think that I will use some of the money that I was going to buy presents with and buy something for one of the least instead.

""The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Crazy Cousins

Get Down From There

I trusted that everything was fine as I sat at the computer and Ethan and Carter played in their bedroom. Then I went in to check on them and found Ethan on top of Laina's dresser. He had taken the ladder from the bunkbed, leaned it against the dresser and climbed up onto the top. He was talking into the baby monitor like it was a walkie talkie too. Thankfully, there wasn't enough room on the dresser for Carter, so he just climbed up onto a storage bin. I'm waiting for him to get older and decide that he wants to jump off of the stairs onto the couch. If he takes parkour lessons at least he'll know how to land.

Last Week's Verse

I am a bit late posting this because Paul had my camera while he was hunting.

Are You Thankful?

Pastor Barry, the Associate Pastor at Rez, gave the sermon last Sunday about being thankful. He encouraged us to take a moment each night before bed to write down 3 things that we are thankful for. We are to do this for 30 days. I took up the challenge and challenge each of my readers to do the same. Hopefully this will go better than my failed attempts at journaling over the years. Here's some of the things that I have thanked God for so far: 1. my family 2. a great church service Sunday 3. the internet 4. music.

Crazy Hair Day

Laurin's looked very similar, but she took it out before I could get a picture.
